In fact, that's what I do now - use the steering wheel to haul myself up and in. I won't be able to put that kind of stress on my back after the surgery, though, for at least 6 weeks at a minimum.

Of course, I won't be driving during that time either - I'll be the passenger and my 17 year old will be "mom's chauffeur" for anywhere I need to go. Still will need to get in/out, whether that's passenger side or slider. I'm thinking a small step stool will be the way to go. It'll work once I do get to drive, too, I think.
