Harry, When my '88 GL started this, I thought at first like you. Then after putting it off for just a bit - I fueled up, then went into the gas station to pay, and on looking out at my van saw an ominous and sizable wet spot on the concrete beneath the front of the van between the wheels. I went out, PUSHED the van away from the spot, and drove until some fuel was burned off. Then went home and drained the rest. It was time to drop the tank and check all rubber and plastic connections to the tank. I'm glad I did. Lots of rotten stuff on top. I suggest you might need to do the same. Fuel leaking up under there is nothing to fool with. JOhn John Rodgers Clayartist and Moldmaker 88'GL VW Bus Driver Chelsea, AL Http://www.moldhaus.com
