Hi Courtney, Absolutely. I fitted such a latch on my westfakia about a decade ago and I use it often. I call it the stealth exit... it lets you slip out of the bus in the night without waking the whole campground with the sound of the sliding door. My install is slightly different... I route the pull cord through a hole in the interior panel about 4" above the bottom of the door so that it's accessible above the mattress pad. I used a "coathook" from a vanagon passenger van as a pull for the latch and I also added a grab handle just below the window to make it easier to pull the door closed from inside after entry. I had pics of this mod online as part of the "Project Yellow Ribbon" bus refurb I was involved with in 2006; I will try to get them re-uploaded tonight so as to share them with the lists.
