From what I have read - there is no way to migrate directly from Win XP to Win7 - you have to go through Vista first. There is the possibility that since I made my efforts - new software is available that will do the job - but so far I have not seen it. Norton Ghost would be my first best bet, if it's possible.

Yo might check out Acronis, and see what they offer. In the past, you could download a free 15 day trial copy of Acronis and get the migration done within the trial period, then just let it expire. It worked for me to move Win XP. to a new hard drive. Perhaps the new version can migrate Win XP files to Win7. But I doubt it. Win7 is several iterations beyond WinXP.
