I have a t-shirt from Skinny Dick's that my brother sent me. It has two polar bears engaged in nan act of romance to put it poltely. My brother lived inAnchorage for several years and used to pack up the dogsleds with his bluegrass bandmates and head north of the Artic Circle along the pipeline to play for weeks at a time at the bars in the pipline maintenance communities. Really rough going up there. His cabin had wood stove heat only and an outdoor privy. Required vanagon content-quite a few syncros up there and most all are equiped with block and battery heaters. Of course there is snow on the roads about 8 mos./yr. and everyone knows how to drive in it but the 4 wheel drive syncros go everywhere. Really wish I had taken the opportunity to visit him while he was in that part of the world.

now, and just fading memories, but the most famous (infamous?)of all I?
remember was Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn about halfway between Nenana and?
Fairbanks on the Parks Highway. Last I heard, Skinny sold it some 5-6?
years ago, and had since died, but rumors persist, and on the internet?
there is a lot about the place, some of it even saying Skinny is still?
living and that the Inn still exists. Hard to tell from the internet?
just what the truth is. I'm just wondering if any of you Alaska types?
today know what the status of the old inn actually is.?
