Thanks for your post - it was like a time warp for me. During the mid/late 70's I worked for Princess Cruises on the Pacific Princes - the original "Love Boat" of TV fame. During the US summer we visited just about all the places you mentioned. A bunch of us "entertainer" types would meet at the Red Dog Saloon - have a "couple" and then somebody would want to sing. As I was the MD for the ship - I would jump on the very old piano and before you knew it - everybody and their brother was having a good old time. Happy days.

At that time - I was not really aware of Westy's but did know about the VW Bus and Vanagon as I had used a friends van often. There were quite a few in AK but as a single (then) bachelor the only thing I wanted a van for was to move musical equipment once in a while. How often things change with marriage, children and children's friends. Some times my 87 Syncro was over-flowing. Course, this all came later after I met my future wife where? You guessed it - the Love Boat.
