re Wonder how much the appropriate electric motor would cost?

when people build pure electric cars ..like say convert an old VW Bug to pure electric ( my welder fabricator guy drives one around town ...spends zero on gasoline, and pennies charging it up ..and it's faster than a stock Bug too ) ..

the main parts are the electric motor, the controller , and the batteries. The electric motor may not even be the most expensive part. The lower end of the scale for just the parts to do a home conversion to pure electric is around $ 7,000 I believe ..and that's not even using fancy batteries. Some people spend 12 grand for all the stuff needed to build in an electric drive train even ..

the concept is great though .. adding electric power at the front of the trans in a rear transaxle/rear engine vehicle. Now to come up with regenerative braking too.
