The 25% Chicken Tax goes back to the Johnson administration and results in lots of interesting approaches to selling all imported trucks (not just German vans) in this country, like it being cheaper for Ford to import the Transit Connect as a window wagon from Turkey and pay to remove the rear seats and windows to convert the body to a panel here, and that's only one example Crazy stuff! Interesting. AFAIK the USA still imposes what is called the "Chicken Tax" on German vans = to retaliate against Europe not allowing genetically modified US "foods" in Europe. I believe that the tax is 25%, but I'm not sure about this.
