I was going to sand it off and spray it with some zinc chromate for the time being, just to stop it from spreading, and then worry about the actual painting later. The problem is that I think it's too cold to use the primer, and I don't have a garage to do this in. It's about 30 degrees outside, and the product calls for 70 for best results. Is there something else I can do in the meantime to slow down the process until it gets warmer? I was thinking of putting some sort of oil on it, or maybe spraying it with spray on wax to keep oxygen from getting to it. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!
scrape / sand area then heat it w/ a hairdryer then use some "extend" or other brand of rust converter on it..paint it on w/ a q-tip. heat it w/ the hairdryer till it dries black. this will hold the rust at bay till spring or when u can fix it in a heated garage. |
