Remove the armrests on the doors. Go to Lowes, in their fantastic hardware section (1,000 times better than Home Depot) you will find plastic screw covers. Get ones that come close to matching your door panel color . Reinstall the screws that once held the armrests to the doors using the screw covers. I've done this on two '84 Westys. Jeff

Hello All-- What's the wisdom on upgrading the old style Westy seats in my 83.5 (cloth striped, horsehair filled) to the Captain's Chairs from later models. Specifically what have any of you done to deal with the arm rests mounted on the driver's and passenger's doors? Do I remove the one adjustable arm on the captain's chair on the door side and use the existing arm rest on the door OR remove the armrest from the door and go full-on Captain Kirk? If I do remove the arm rests from the door what am I up against? Am I left with smallish holes I can cap with some plastic plug I might find at the hardware store to leave a clean look? Thanks, Jeff 83.5 Westy LA, CA |
