To those long haired list members, of which I suppose there are a few......
I have a solution.
I carry with me a (once) bright orange, very grease stained cheap "tossle
Cap" hat that I use when doing mechanical work. Even just to check the oil,
the first thing I do is put my hair up in the hat. I have alot of hair, and
I like to keep it clean, so it is best to put it away before your hands get
dirty!
Why bright orange? Right after hunting season they are WILDLY cheap. I once
bought a dozen for a dollar.
I keep it in the bus right under the rear cabinet so it's always near the
engine bay. And, my coveralls fit inside of it if folded properly. I keep
another hat in my toolbag. (Safety goggles as well!)
Grab some cheap hats. Getting stuff stuck in your hair sucks. Getting your
hair stuck on stuff, even worse.
