I bought higher wattage Blinker and Brake Light bulbs from Terry Kay (link below)...nice...very bright. Deemed it was easier to buy from him than run all over town or the Web to find those. And immediately noticed it got other driver's attention when I signaled for a lane change...they backed off whereas previously they ignored me. I'm hoping the brighter brake lights get their attention as well when coming to a stop. No collisions so far..ha-ha! Very glad I did this "improvement". So far about a year of experience with the new bulbs, a satisfied customer. Figured that the higher wattage of those bulbs wouldn't heat up and melt the plastic of the taillight lens since they are on only momentarily. Did NOT replace the always "on" (at night) Tail Light bulbs to higher wattage, but might do so in the future based on the good results of the other bulbs, Terry has some real-life experience with those before he offered them up for sale; I think if plastic lens "melting" were an issue, it would have gotten some press on the Vanagon List or The Samba, but then again I don't read every post...YMMV. Anybody know? http://community-2.webtv.net/VanStuff/VanagonWestfalia/ Rich San Diego --- On Fri, 12/17/10, Phil <mypactor@PACBELL.NET> wrote: From: Phil <mypactor@PACBELL.NET> Subject: Re: tail lights To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Date: Friday, December 17, 2010, 5:49 PM There have been posts lately about upgrading Vanagon headlights. Been there, done that.
How about TAIL LIGHTS? They need to be upgraded too. Anyone have any suggestions?
