I didn't put it on the hoses for fire from the outside...I put it on to keep the hoses from abrading or getting nicked by the occasional rock getting thrown against the fuel line. Careful routing and proper attachment is the best safety.... That drip irrigation tubing is not very substantial, nor do I think it would fare well in a fire, but it will protect a hose if starts to rub something..
