I'm sure I posted this before, but years ago, in my Bahama Blue '63 Beetle, I was driving home after a party when she stopped cold. Put her in 1st and cranked her over to the side of the road with the starter. (yes I'm just that lazy <grin> ) Smelled fuel. Busted fabric coated fuel line to carb had dumped fuel all over the engine/exhaust. Pulled it off, cut off offending remainder etc.

Yes it was cold that night, but, it didn't just light up. (thanks his lucky stars)

Lots of things to check on these aging rigs as you suggest Dennis.
