20 years or so ago I found and restored an MGA with 67,000 miles on it that had been parked when it stopped running. The PO never did a single thing to it. It was a great experience to know that I was the second person to have every messed with every piece in the car. The car that was exactly, to the fastener and hose, like it was when it left the factory. I sold it ten years ago and it is still winning shows today.

Vanagons are not quite there yet, but there will be more and more emphasis on original condition as these cars become more sought after. I can see the value (maybe not as much as is being asked, but I get the point) of an unmolested car.
