the two filler necks are entirely different at the gas cap end ....as in 'not related.'

the only part in common at gas cap end of the filler tubes is the gas cap. Complete other style and arrangement between the two styles.

the later plastic type is 8 times easier to remove and install than the early large ones. 10 X even. I always and only use the plastic filler neck style if I can. Nice to know there's an adapter seal.
