Subject: Info needed re: Audi 5-cyl conversion certification in California
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi Gang,

I'm considering this van with the aforementioned conversion. Looking for input from those of you who put together their own conversion. Seller got shot down by CARB referee. Something about having the wrong kind of ECU for California. Donor was an '86 Audi Coupe (2.3 non-turbo) in a 1984 Vanagon.

The ref told him the exhaust system had to go all the way to the front. Didn't sound practical. Wondering anyone has managed to certify with the exhaust mostly in the rear. There's talk about an EO for the conversion? This is mostly homegrown and not an Overland kit.

Mike Caitlin in Davis comes to mind, Maybe others?

TIA, -- BenT
