A couple of weeks ago when I brought home my latest orphan, a '96 Jetta in
excellent mechanical condition (but badly damaged clearcoat) for $500, and
my 24th VW overall, I asked my wife what she thought of it.
"Well, you've brought home bigger pieces of sh*t than this one, so that's
good."
It's a hobby that keeps me out of trouble. I think she'd rather have me in
the garage wrenching on beat-up VW's than drunk on a golf course like most
of my friends, so everybody's happy overall.
