Hi Stephen,

First thing to look at would be the temp sensor. Sounds like it is telling the van it is warm when it really isn't. These sensors seem to have a short life expectancy for my family.... Usually we wind up replacing them every 24 months or so.

If it was running too rich when cold it would probably be running faster when cold, not sputtering. Unless you are seeing black smoke... it's probably not running rich. If the FPR was the culprit it likely wouldn't idle well when warm either.

What you are describing could also be an ignition issue... Cap, rotors, plugs and wires should be checked/replaced as well if they haven't been examined recently.
