"...and now all the wires and connectors are 25 + years old...."  Scott Turbovans

Volks,

Does it makes sense as proactive maintenance to search around for every connector in my Vanagon and plug & unplug several times, wipe contacts with a thin film of di-electric grease on a Q-tip, and then plug & unplug several times more to promote fresh connectivity and impaired corrosion?

I mean, I hear so much about bad contacts and grounds and such, it seems like this would be a good thing, an easy thing.

By the way, with all the recent rain in Southern California these days, my telephone seems "scratchy" and my internet connection went from normal 2.5 MBs to 0.7 MBs (DSL); so I was plugging and unplugging things to try and fix and improve.  It worked.

Ideas?
