I did maintenance on the full shift linkage for my 1982 and lubricated everything with the specified moly grease. At the transmission end I covered the guidepin with a new boot from Bus Depot. Within fewer than 50 miles the boot was shredded. I'm getting an OEM boot from Vanagain to replace the shredded boot, but even though the rubber might be different (Ken says it is), should I lubricate this with "just" grease, not moly? What do you think? Mark '82 Westy |
