Thanks all for the good ideas.
VanCafe is out of the Tiico mounts they offered, at least when I last
looked a few days ago. Plus, my muffler is an oval shape and it is in place
on an angle to fit into the limited space between my crank pulley and the
bumper, without losing any ground clearance. The Van Cafe mount is formed
to accept a round muffler...probably could be made to work though.
I shall look, next time I am near a city, for a real band clamp at the
muffler shops.
I have tried hanging with flexible straps to the body....Noise and
vibration results and now, with my dual downpipe header and it's flexible
bellows at the flange to the exhaust manifold, the exhaust needs to be a
unit with the motor, for sure, or that flex coupling will eventually break.
I thought someone might have a source for those band clamps or a link to
find em. Or even a hint about what to 'search' for. I tried "band clamps"
but got woodworking stuff, I tried "exhaust clamps", but get the u-bolt
style...I did find some marine fire extinguisher mount clamps...but those
were $100 each...the plumbers tape, that perforated metal strapping you get
at the hardware or the lumber yard...that seems like it's no stronger than a
ss hose clamp.
