Maybe Vanagain has some NOS OEM ones, but they're NLA from VW, and I've been told the ones which apparently originate from Just Kampers in England are the only repos available. I, too, tried one of the Just Kampers ones, and it fell apart in less than a year. Simply put, it's a POS.

In any case, I wouldn't use a petroleum-based grease. A silicone (or maybe synthetic) grease would be less harmful to a "rubber" boot. Do you really have some MoS2, which is a solid (power)? It's often found as part of a grease, which is probably petroleum based.

Myself, I just made a bushiing for the end of the rod which mounts to the tranny out of acetyl (Delrin), which is self-lubricating.
