Very important info. Completely mind boggling when I explain this to the owner of a 2011 Honda that has "an obvious alignment problem" per the customer. The vanagon steering is sensitive to the crown of the road but not as much as some makes and models (most Hondas) and less than others (maybe a big Chevy Suburban or Hummer with wide tires). All part of the "road feel" that I like in the Vanagon or any vehicle for that manner. If your car "pulls" to the right in the outer lane (US) does it also "pull" to the left in the left lane? Case in point. Of course all road crowns are not created equally.

RE: Steering Keep in mind, when taking your hands off the wheel to see if the van drifts to one side or the other, that most road have a 'crown', they slope slightly to drain rain water off the road. This will cause some drift even on a perfectly aligned front end. And as stated by someone else the steering wheel being a little of center may be just that, the steering wheel was not properly set when the last alignment was done.
