        If your replacing the shocks, just cut the nut off, hacksaw if that's all you have will work fine !  PUT ANTISIEZE on the new install !  There is supposed to be a plastic cap thingy there to cover the nut and threaded end to keep corrosion at bay.  Probably long gone.
