When I had a baywindow ten years ago, my other car was a mid-80s Saab. I could tell the difference between the two, but it wasn't an enormous difference. Now I have a 2001 GTI and the difference between it and my 1982 aircooled Vanagon is vast. It's in everything. Wheels, braking, power, the sound of the doors closing. The same carmaker made both of these vehicles? If I could have a Vanagon that felt and handled like my GTI, I'd do it without hesitation. Mark
