An idea: you know those hazardous symbol placards that truck drivers can flip through to display the appropriate warning for whatever they are carrying? VW bus drivers need those mounted on the back that would give the driver a choice of left-wing, , moderate, right-wing and various religious and ethnic symbology that could be adapted to the area you're traveling through at the time, "just in case." I could go into some hilarious detail here but I will leave it to your collective imagination.
