Yes, it is probably much easier to change the motor in a Vangon than it may be to even change the sparkplugs in a Toyota Van....but you might have to change that VW motor 3 times before you will be changing the plugs on your modern van... And yes, it's probably a pain to repair a complicated mid engine toyota van out on the road...but then that is an unlikely possibility...they just don't break down very often. Don't get me wrong, I love my inline Vanagon 5sp and I can't really conceive of a better vehicle for my personal use...but for other uses than I do right now, like sustained interstate driving or low traction winter driving or city freeway driving....a modern Toyota might be a bit more suited..
