I want to hook up with the group that does the treffen (I think that is called) from NY to Disney World. Rather than going to the giant commercial mousetrap I think that I would continue on to the keys and SCUBA/snorkle. The Amtrak car/train back would be great but man the prices are super steep(around $1100.00 per ticket with the van from Orlando to Lorton, Va [closest auto -train stop to my house]last time I checked). I guess that train is for the bougouis-elite that takes the cruise to Europe from the US being that jet planes are for the common riff raff. Well I guess I could trust my van for that trip after I get that dream engine-the magnificent Bostig turbo. Let me empty the penny jar tonight and see if I can get $9500.00 of copper to the coinstar.Dreaming is still free right??Anyone on the list doen the VW Treffen trip? What were your experiences? Was it one of your top 10 road trips? This inquiring mind would like to know.

Ahhhh, a dream of mine for a long time, too. Sadly, I don't think it will ever
happen. Next dream, to just take a summer off and tour the USA. A few years ago
there was a guy local to me (Maryland) who's wife and step daughter took off in
'71 Corvair powered Westy, they did 10,000 miles over the summer. That summer I
couldn't wait to get to work in the mornings and read their latest postings on
where the were. An even bigger thrill was to come later when I actually met
these folks and got to drive the '71 with 110 hp. Again, sadly, my wife of
almost 30 years has absolutely NO desire to camp in the Westy even one night.
When we first met we used to go camping all the time, she is now more the
hotel/room service type, I'd still love to go camping. Two places I dream of
camping in my Westy:the Florida Keys, and Oak Creek Canyon above Sedona,
Arizona, the two most beautiful spots on earth IMHO. <SIGH> Maybe someday....

Been wondering about this for a while. I have a crazy dream of someday
liquidating assets and hitting the road in in the '87 Westy.
I know we have some Full Timers or Former Full Timers who have led or are
right now leading that interesting life.
How many do we have on the list?
Also, are there any specific discussion lists and "How To"s?
Found this on a Google search: http://vanagonforever.blogspot.com/
Couldn't find too much in the Archives.
