Yes, I do unfortunately. Not once, but twice I have had auto transmissions fail when they had high mileage and history unknown, and I changed the fluid. I have always been told by mechanics if you buy a used vehicle and are unaware of the it's trans fluid change history, leave it alone. My '85 Weekender I bought back in June had 137K on it and the PO who owned it for 7-8 years had not changed the fluid during the time he had it. The trans right now shifts fine, so other then checking the fluid level I intend to leave it alone, changing the fluid now may just be asking for trouble -if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jeff

Drained the tranny. New screen etc. Put some fully synthetic fluid in and it has some slippage problems. It goes but it is slipping during some shifts. Anyone have any experience with this? Synthetic fluid? Thanks Merv
