Might work where you are. In the two states where I have the most experience (Texas and Oklahoma), a private vehicle must be registered in the owner's county of residence. That has to do with allocation of fees (not called taxes for some reason, but it doesn't matter, the money is needed to run needed services) to county entities, not just state ones. So, if I live in Oklahoma County, but register my vehicles in Tulsa County, road maintenance and other programs in Oklahoma County suffer.

Now, ask me about the "tag agent" system in Oklahoma, a mechanism whereby a private company gets to pocket part of the registration fee. Argh!
