If you're at all interested in learning more about wrenching, a Vanagon certainly presents the oppourtunity.

At time of purchase, I too thought I'd have a mechanic maintain Jaco. I had done some wrenching in the past. FF to now, and I've learned a lot more and can now (with a few mistakes here and there) maintain almost all aspects of my rig.

Guess I'm saying that if you have the time, and even an inkling of desire, it's not a stretch to do some or eventually all of the work, save some moolah and learn some useful skills.

Just my .02,

Neil.
