I took mine out also, but just to keep pressure on the glass seals I bought some black window screen cane-ing and installed it with some dishwashing detergent and various tools.  This works much better with two people, and IIRC the window screen roller tool worked good.  the stuff is available at HD/Lowes and is cheap.

Didn't do anything with the slider frames.
