Subject: coolant hose is no longer made
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

List Members: I have a 1989 Vanagon camper. It's a beauty and I've traveled throughout the USA in it. But I have a problem that is familiar to owners of Vanagons of similar vintage.

A coolant hose that goes over the transmission is unavailable. My manual is in the van which is in the shop, so I can't provide a more specific description of the hose but I know many of you will be familiar with this problem.

I need information about how to deal with this aging but irreplaceable coolant hose. My mechanic has already had a supply warehouse searched for something similar that he might modify to fit the needed hose. No luck.

I've also checked with every vendor I know of on the internet with no success. I can get every other hose but not this one.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem that you would be willing to share with the List?

Thank you.

Dan Roberts
