At Pinkies in Lubbock when I was just back from the unpleasantness in South East Asia, CFS was the crown jewel served with deadly cream gravy and blazing mashed potatoes.

In my relentless syncro powered search for the world champion Biscuits and Gravy as I travel, I have found many pickup truck restaurants that are in close contention. Jacks in Bishop, Jack Ranch on SR 41, and the long gone Round Trip Cafe in Valmy NV come to mind. Real Blue Highways places, not found on the superslab. Moms in Salida (?) also famed and justifiably so.

SFC Orock, at Ft. Greely, AK in the sixties served a specialty based on sourdough biscuits and sausage gravy. We kidded about Bison Barf on a Bun. Oddly there were few left over Orocks.

Full story by Pmail if you like.

Pensionerd.
