Well.... Occasionally, gerry goes silent for a variety of reasons. Fifteen years ago we set up the 'spare' vanagon list on the yahoogroups server for such times. If you haven't gotten list mail in a few hours, just send the command 'thank you' to listserv@gerry.vanagon.com . If you don't get a reply within the hour, the server is down. If you were subscribed to the spare list, you'd probably know why. Sending messages to vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com asking if the list is down is kinda pointless. No one will see them until the listserv comes back up.

In this case, 455,000 folks without electricity in the DC area was probably a contributing cause.

But I could be wrong.
