Subject: Pulling up to Border Patrol checkpoint on Highway 111 in Southern

I had washed and waxed the Westy after the a big rain in Southern California and I approached a Border Patrol checkpoint about 50 miles south of Palm Springs on Highway 111. The fellow could not have been over 30 The conversation went like this:

BP "Are you traveling alone" Me "Yes". BP "Where do you live". Me "Vancouver, BC". BP As he took a close look at the Vanagon he nodded his approval and he had a grin from ear to ear. "Cool......................very cool"

I have owned this since 2002 in the past year I have received more positive comments than the previous years put together. Has the world gone Vanagon mad?
