You'll be competing for those 2.0 heads with the Type4 and 914 guys. The latter are a fanatical sort with deeper pockets than the typical Vanagon fan. Here in the San Francisco area, we call air-cooled Vanagons 'parts vans'. If you had to hire a shop to rebuild your engine, the labor cost exceeds the value of the complete running vehicle.;-( Whilst Vanagons in general are worth less than the value of their dismembered parts, it had been my experience that the air-cooled T3's arrived at that point much sooner than their water-cooled counterparts.
