I picked up a second hard plastic map pocket from a junked van for my passenger door. Optimum placement is slightly higher and farther back than the driver's door location in order to permit the glove box to open without interference. I've even gone so far as to mark the back side of the passenger door panel for the drilling/installation but have not yet done the install. I just don't know if I can live with the asymmetry. If you want to put the hard sided map pocket on the passenger door, just make certain that you mark the holes for installation of the new map pocket with the glove box open and you will be fine.
