reminds me of a tongue twister... housewife and the tinker talking about pot repair: "Are you copper-bottoming 'em my man?" "No, I'm aluminuming 'em ma'am." I had a used spare core to swap in, but I decided to try cleaning my core with this aluminium cleaner which is diluted fluoric acid and some detergent. It sure brightens up the metal and it flushed out a lot of sediment from the core. I realize this is risky, maybe the core is weak to begin with and this hasn't helped, but I did it, so there :) Pulling the dash is quick, putting it back in and getting the wiring connected nicely is slower.
