Subject: Vanagon iPhone dock ideas
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I'm getting ready to put the van back on the road, after taking many months of my own sweet time to undertake a H2O-pump swap--the first significant engine work I've had in 7 years of ownership. While it was down I decided to install a Bluetooth enabled head unit (Dual XHD7714) which had previously been installed in my daily driver. It really punches through the Infinity speakers I installed last year. We have a recent law here in WA requiring hands-free devices for phone calls, so the Bluetooth fits that bill nicely. It also interfaces wirelessly with my phone's music stash.

I'm wondering if anyone has found an out-of-the-box iPhone dock that works well with these vans, or has modified something (like the ashtray) to suit this function. I'm mostly interested in just docking the unit to keep it in place while maintaining a charge. And when I say dock, I mean that I want to just drop it in place, without having to separately plug in the cord.

Any ideas or examples that work for the Vanagons?

Thanks -- Casey
