I remember thinking it seemed like how they have learned to "map" the ocean floor, and do the same via satellites via GPS mapping earth features that are below the forest canopy, or ice covered terrain. THey can also measure ice depth that way and figure out how much has melted .... or how much your carpet has worn out over time. ;-) bob
