Hi all. Out of 3 sources locally, the Bosal DV hangers seem to be NLA. I see that Rockauto and Vancafe has them, but figured redoing my brackets to use a common hanger would help when on the road. Might help the next guy too. Not trying to outsmart the original VW design, just come up with a suitable commonly available part. Image of Bosal DV hanger: *http://tinyurl.com/4els94o* * * *There's more room on my engine install than the stock DV. Online, these FLAPS type hangers seem most common.* * * *Thought to cantilever a rod from mount plate on engine to this hanger:* * * *http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/norm/wlk-35460_m.jpg to a bracket(s) on muffler* * * * Would the bar simply break over time? (engine vibrations, muffler weight) * *Or.... bolt this strap type 90* to same mount plate* * * *http://yourautoworld.com/images/JeepParts/exhaust-hanger.jpg* * * *turn end 90*, hang muffler from that. But, they seem to have less rubber. Would this type allow too much vibration from engine to transmit to exhaust? * * * *I'd love to use the Bosal type but figure that along with other Vanagon parts, they may be harder to find in the future and it's just one less part I have to wait for when ordering.* * * *Neil.* * * * * -- Neil Nicholson '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines |
