For those sandy days, and to dig out when necessary you might need a "farm jack" Hi-Lift(tm) a base plate to keep the jack from sinking and a wheel sling to raise the wheel, not the van. Couple that with the requisite shovel (s), real shovels not trifold and you're almost home. Those elegant kitchen rugs that your decorate the floor of your van can be used to provide a modicum of no-sink. Best idea is to test the waters or the sand before going in. Remember the water you see is only the top. Same for deep sand. I once crossed a river near Hanksville in a subaru, had it not been for 4wd we would have lost the critter. Way deeper than it looked. Cell Phone and AAA won't save you.

Practice with the jack in comfortable surroundings until you're confident you can get it done.

Pensionerd.
