Then there are those of us who set out to change the filter as a normal maintenance and wind up BREAKING the fuel pump and have to replace it also.  Just one of those learning experiences where a $20/30 minute job becomes a $200 weeklong-wait-for-the-parts-to-arrive job.  Makes you cautious about touching anything unless you absolutely must.

I've wondered about this...a few months my fuel pump was also making quite a bit of noise. I changed the fuel filter and all has been good. I wonder how many fuel pumps get replaced because of partially clogged fuel filters? Since I'm guessing most folks would probably replace the filter at the same time they replace the pump, it might be assumed it was the pump when just the filter would have fixed it. Jeff
