Private replies only, of course. VW Heidelberg V radio, OE on '89 White Star. Has outputs for subwoofer and VW active speaker systems as well as regular VW speaker plugs. Uses new-type European antenna connector. No code needed but has little key symbol on front, whatever that means. Uses regular DIN mounting latches, the kind you can unlatch with four finishing nails. Free for shipping costs. The problems are a) the cassette mechanism needs cleaning and greasing - it won't load in winter weather and b) there's an intermittent in the output of the FM stereo generator so that FM radio almost always only has left channel. Undoubtedly it's flaky solder or a cracked trace but I haven't even tried to look for it. The other problem is that IMO the radio is an ergonomic disaster, but YMMV. It weighs close to four pounds by itself, so take that into consideration - shipping from Providence RI. If you're in the .001% of the population who needs this boat anchor, here it is; so rush to reply before I place it gently in the oubliette. Yours, David |
