Not meaning any offense to anyone, but ................

I'm certainly no automotive expert, I only putter around, fix things that I can do easily, and go to an expert beyond that. However, I have generally found that the folks who built a given vehicle spent thousands of hours of high dollar time on the thing. They figured out what would work. Sure, some decisions, like plastics where metals would work better (or whatever cheap vs. costlier alternative you prefer) are made purely on a cost basis. But the fundamentals of how the thing works, especially when the experts doing the work were VW engineers -- I'll stick with them. Smarter folks may think otherwise.

Yes, anything hyped as being a "performance" enhancement, usually enhances the performance of the purveyor's bank account at the expense of that of the consumer's.

Oh well.
