Well, your slider can slide like an oyster to belly, but if your latch is not working properly, all you have is a smooth slider. Study the position of your latching mechanism internals closely after gently closing, without slamming, then do the same after slamming. You should see the difference clearly. I've had this problem twice. Once it turned out to need only a striker adjustment. The other time it turned out the mechanism was completely worn and needed replacement. First things first, though. Have you followed the door adjustment procedure in the Bentley? It's simple and works wonders. Do this first............
