Nut is very tight has not been removed in over 10 years but I desperately need to get my spare tire out and mounted. I tried WD40 but its real diffuicult to apply it and so far it refuses to yield and the socket continually slips. Anyone got any ideas? Personally, I think the whole concept of needing a special tool to access >the spare tire is a dumb design. You don't need a special tool. A socket works fine. I think it is 19 mm, but don't remember for sure. Maybe the nut on your spare tire holder is worn. Get some penetrating oil, and a wrench that fits. With a wrench that fits, use a cheater bar if need be. If the nut has not been removed in over ten years, then I doubt that the spare tire it retains is worth mounting. It is likely to be dangerous to use. mcneely |
