you may have done small no-no on the wiring ....true, but I did want to mention ...fwiw .. I did find one brake light warning light that was faulty ...( a lot like you discribe too ) like a good used one fixed it .. so it is possible you didn't mess up the wiring ..

and at least inspect/clean the contacts on the back of the brk warning light.

The brake light indicator on the dash now lights up when I turn on the car. It goes off when I depress the brake pedal. Back on when I release the pedal.

What's going on? Could this have anything to do with the fact that I recently replaced the brake light switch on the master cylinder?
